And now, a World from the Resident Flake
posted @ 03:25:00 MST by bryn
Did you ever find yourself replaying a moment in time over and over again? Not just any moment, but one you had been waiting for - one that passed on the leading edge of the following one in which you found yourself realizing you missed it. More importantly, you missed making it what you wanted it to be.

It snowed tonight. I figured out a lot of things as the flakes floated lazily to rest. Like every snowflake we all live a short, unique trip borrowed from the very elements that build our world. As in a shared dream, we take this ride right along next to those close to us. Sometimes the direction shifts and swirls and carries us to new places as with curling currents of changing breeze in a ponderous snowfall. If we're lucky we steal a few golden moments from these waylaid sojourns.

The world around us is never without a lesson. If we're smart, we don't waste the time. When the moment comes we share the warmth we feel in our hearts without letting our fear of melting away the little we already have catch and thwart our words.

Tonight, not being smart, I let one of those moments slip by and every time I do I worry that the wind will never carry me back, close to that perfect crystal, the one in a billion I found on my way down.

I think I may have found my Resolution. Now I just have to figure out that pesky resolving part.

Question...

Can expansion truly take place in an infinite space where there is no relative measurement of it? Can the energy of expansion also be the containing force? Is time subjective to the physical nature of the Universe if it is a prerequisite to expansion, or is it a symptom of an expanding Universe?

If there truly is a containing force would it not exhibit changes of energy within that same force, increasing the available pool of potential energy? I like to refer to it as the "2L Bottle of Coca-Cola Theory of the Universe" (one of many): Open a bottle that has been recently shaken versus one that has not... Even though the contents are relatively identical down to the molecular level the energy levels are completely different. This also serves to illustrate the point that the elements that support our own existence are not only necessary but also must be in the proper form. Hydrogen at 1s is not Hydrogen at 3p.

Can energy exist without matter? Are fission an fusion the balance of the equation? Lather, rinse, repeat...

A few fortunate souls are lucky to find a warm fire in the dark, cold night - a place to be where you can just be. To coin a phrase, they're few and far between... points of warm light in the dark night sky... like distant stars whose light is all at once piercing and calling. Their light dances in the eyes of those who look upward, away from where they've been and to where they want to be.

Sometimes, if you're lucky you can close your eyes and keep the light in... and just fly away.

Like light through a prism, you can hold it in your hand but as soon as you move it shifts and changes. So, you sit and let it dance in your raised palm and try to put it away someplace where you can summon it back again and again.

You never know if it's going to be there next time you look for it, just like a fleeting dream.

Sometimes, when you find a dream you really love you wish you could just keep sleeping. Reflections are often deeper than the source. By virtue of the experience, it's seldom that two can see the same reflection. Light follows light.

Nothing matters as long as there is still the will to try.

You'll find yourself somewhere along the road. If you can stand toe-to-toe with that person then the journey has been worthwhile. The greatest gift life can give you is another moment. Just live in that moment and love it for all it's worth... Fight, love, stand, and live for another. You don't get any back. Time is inevitable, the most powerful force in the Universe.

There's more beauty in one single moment than any one person can hope to ever find in a lifetime. Never hope for time to pass more quickly. You might just find that it happens. If you find yourself doing so it's probably a good sign that you should turn and move on in a different direction. Purity is it's own reward when it's genuine.
